Our process
CLEAN FIRST, BUILD SECOND
1. Clean
The initial consultation is of paramount importance for practitioners at Melbourne Muscular Therapies. We believe the development of a positive bond and connection between practitioner and client is critical to the healing process. We are a ‘new-age’ clinic that has built a culture, which embraces mate-ship and positive lifelong relationships. Trust, authenticity, transparency, empathy, and positive energy must be adhered to be both practitioner and client in order to develop the journey towards healing.
Your practitioner will LISTEN to you! Find out your perspective, your goals, your previous journey, and will not make judgements and assumptions. Your initial consultation is a blank canvas, where we get an understanding of your previous journey and develop/tailor a new journey within our systems that is applicable to where you see yourself going. As practitioners, we are adaptable and flexible when it comes to developing your journey. You are the priority, and we are the facilitators. Our practitioners will take you through a series of movement tests, assess you standing and dynamic postures, test your strength, and formulate a thorough diagnosis of your pain.
At Melbourne Muscular Therapies, we have a two-pronged approach to treatment of dysfunction and pain. We call is ‘Clean First, Build Second’. The first step following a thorough initial consultation is to ‘clean’ the body, by using our slow and penetrative technique, which hits deep into the heat of dysfunction and realigns and relieves any irregularities in the bodies tissues.
Our technique of massage is called Solidified Connective Tissue Release (SCT Release). SCT Release is a form of deep, precision based myofascial release and remedial massage which alleviates the body of pain, stiffness, tension, aches, and blockages. SCT Release, is an internally developed method and strategy of massage, which is exclusive to practitioners at Melbourne Muscular Therapies. Treatment is delivered in a way that is deliberate, targeted, tactful, and patient in order to activate the human body’s innate healing systems. Our techniques involve slow and penetrating strokes at the sources/causes of your pain, to unravel, realign, and release knotted and dysfunctional tissues, whilst also re-setting messages to the brain in order to allow the body to relax. SCT Release targets tight, painful muscles, dehydrated fascia, bound up tendons, compressed nerves, and any other form of solidified tissue.
We will successfully diagnose, treat, and ultimately eliminate your pain.
“Clean First, Build Second”
This motto represents our belief system regarding rehabilitation and treatment of the human body. In nature, pain is represented with a build up of debris, stagnation, areas of blockage where flow cannot exist. The human body is the same. Pain is blockage, a build up of solid tissue, calcium within tendons and joints, stuck fascia within areas where flow cannot exist.
In both cases, building a foundation or structure on these areas would be illogical. One must ‘clean’ the blockage, ‘clean’ the pain, before any structure or strength can be ‘built’. One may have years of pain, poor habits, and poor movement patterns prior to coming in. Treatment before Strength Training is vital on the journey towards healing.
2. Build
Once pain has been alleviated and movement restored, we must ‘build’ the body using our specialised strength and conditioning programs. By ‘build’, we mean strengthen, re-align, and balance the body to ensure that muscular systems/networks are working in synergy, rather that having points of weakness. If the body is unbalanced due to poor biomechanics, bad habits, or previous injury, muscles and structures will begin to compensate, which can lead to pain and dysfunction. Our strength ‘building’ programs are designed to ‘build’ your weak points to ensure that your movement patterns are permanently improved, which will result in good posture and long-term sustainable physical health.
We take a holistic approach to our strength building programming. Humans are dynamic creatures that can move in a number of planes of motion. Because of this, we ensure all our exercises and movement patterns are designed to replicate movements you complete in your daily life. Our aim is to eliminate your pain, and to ensure you move efficiently as a human. We will build your confidence to ensure you can confidently walk pain-free, run pain-free, pick things up pain-free, and ultimately do anything you want without fear or trepidation.
3. Results
During your initial consultation, your practitioner will ask you the ‘real’ reason why you want to overcome your pain, injury, or dysfunction. We want to understand what you true goals are regarding your pain. We want these goals to be powerful, and ones that are in alignment with your value systems. Whether it is to be able to pick up your child pain-free, run 5km again for the first time in 5 years, or win a premiership, whatever it may be, we want to ascertain exactly what you goals are so we can strive to assist you in achieving these goals as a team. Your practitioner will tailor your journey in accordance with these goals.
