Infrared Sauna

Melbourne Muscular Therapies

Infrared sauna uses light wavelengths to heat your body directly — penetrating deeper into muscle and connective tissue than a traditional sauna. The result is accelerated recovery, reduced inflammation, improved circulation, and a level of full-body relaxation that complements our deep tissue work perfectly.

At MMT we use infrared sauna as a therapeutic tool, not just a wellness accessory. Whether you're booking a standalone session to unwind, or combining it with a massage to maximise your recovery — the heat primes your tissue for treatment and extends the benefits long after you leave the clinic.

Sessions available at our Richmond location. Pair with any massage treatment for the ultimate recovery protocol.

Common Questions

FAQ's

Sessions are typically 30–45 minutes. We recommend starting at 30 minutes if you're new to infrared sauna, then building to longer sessions as your body adapts. Hydrate well before and after.

Traditional saunas heat the air around you to very high temperatures. Infrared saunas use light wavelengths to heat your body directly at a lower ambient temperature — making them more comfortable to sit in for longer while delivering deeper tissue penetration.

Yes — and we recommend it. Using the sauna before your massage loosens tissue and increases blood flow, allowing your practitioner to work more effectively. Using it after a session accelerates the flushing of metabolic waste and deepens the relaxation response.

Regular infrared sauna use supports muscle recovery, reduces inflammation and joint pain, improves circulation, promotes deep relaxation, assists with detoxification through sweat, and can improve sleep quality. It pairs exceptionally well with our deep tissue treatment protocols.

Infrared sauna is not recommended if you are pregnant, have a pacemaker, or have been advised by your doctor to avoid heat exposure. If you have any medical conditions, consult your GP before booking.
